Our parish had an Old Fashioned Family Day Picnic on Sunday, October 21 2018, from 1:00-4:00 P.M. at Pontiff Park, Shelter No 6. The Archdiocese actually was celebrating Family Day on September 23, but we were moving the celebration to October 21 to avoid the peak of the storm season and (hopefully) experience some cooler, drier weather.
In this picnic, the parish provided food and drinks. There was Plum Street Sno-balls, a pie-baking contest and a pie-eating contest. There was a variety of games for different age groups: The Home & School Association, Knights of Columbus, Daughters of Isabella and Sharing Program. They were involved to make this a true community event.
A huge thanks to the Family and Marriage Committee, the Knights, the Daughters, the Men’s Club, Home and School, and the Sharing Program for hosting our St. Francis Parish Picnic on October 21, 2018. God gave us picture-perfect weather the crowd was huge, the food and desserts were phenomenal, the games were fun, and the fellowship was tops. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our parish-school family community.
Fr. Joe and Fr. Thien are most grateful for all labors. It took a whole lot of effort by a whole lot of people to make this event so successful. Thanks to everyone who came out to picnic with us, and special thanks to David and Sarah McDonald for coordinating the picnic and leading us in this celebration of family.
